The Jackson Heights Art Club has been bringing art to the Queens community for more than 65 years. Since its beginning, the Club has been committed to furthering the knowledge and enjoyment of the visual arts throughout Queens.

Painting Demonstration with Artist Yuka Imata

Yuka Imata was born in Sapporo, Japan, and moved to the United States to attend the Massachusetts College of Art, in Boston, where she earned a bachelor's degree. She studied at the Art Students League of New York, in Manhattan, and studied independently in Spain and Italy for nine months through a Xavier Gonzales and Ethel Edwards Travel Grant. Imata has received additional grants and awards from the Salmagundi Club, the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, the Art Students League of New York, and the Massachusetts College of Art. Her work has shown at the Chelsea Art Museum, the Salmagundi Club, the National Arts Club, the Cork Gallery in Lincoln Center, and the Art Students League of New York, all in New York City; the Korean embassy, in Washington, D.C.; the Copley Society of Art, in Boston, as well as overseas in Florence, Italy, Tokyo, Fukuoka, and Yokohama in Japan.
She has been teaching at National Academy School.
